Equinox Introduces 2 Other Brilliant Themes, Installation Made Easy via PPA

If you read this blog regularly, then you probably don't need any lecture on Equinox themes. Equinox GTK Theme + Faenza Icon Sets are probably the best combination of themes I have ever found for my Ubuntu. Last day, I was doing my regular repository update when I noticed some new Equinox packages. Two new themes were introduced by Equinox team and the whole package keeps getting better.


Equinox Evolution and Equinox Evolution Light are the new themes. Both are really good, but I would say, Equinox Evolution is the better one. I absolutely liked the bluish glow of the new Equinox Evolution theme. Great work guys.

How to Install Equinox Themes in Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid Lynx'?
  • I would recommend everyone to install Faenza Icon sets too along with Equinox themes. They are both available in the same repository. Quick preview of icons available with Faenza below.
  • Now to install Equinox Gtk themes and Faenza icon sets, simply do the following in Terminal. If you don't want Faenza, remove the 'faenza-icon-theme'(without the quotes) part from the last line.
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tiheum/equinox && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-equinox equinox-theme equinox-ubuntu-theme faenza-icon-theme
  • Done. Now try these themes and let me know if you like them. Have fun.
