Top 8 Games For 'Non-Gamers' in Linux

I am not a serious gamer at all. If you want to see me totally disoriented, play an FPS game in front of me. But then there are always these silly games for people like me. Here is a quick list of my favorite time wasters or puzzle games or whatever you want to call them.

Pingus

Pingus

Pingus is my favorite time pass in Ubuntu. It is a simple puzzle game that almost everyone will love. It is quite addictive I should say. And you don't have to be a "Gamer" to play it. It is available by default in almost all Linux distros I believe. If you are an Ubuntu user(or any other distro using debain package management), click here to install Pingus.

Knetwalk

Knetwalk

KNetwalk is a puzzle game where the player arranges sections of wire to connect all the computers on the board. It is part of KDE games module. If you are a KDE user, you probably have this game by default. If you are an Ubuntu user(or any other distro using debain package management), click here to install Knetwalk.

World of Goo

World of Goo is not an Open Source software, but it is among the few proprietary games that has a Linux variant and it is completely DRM free. World of Goo is my all time favorite game with one of its kind physics engine and game play. There is a demo version available for free download here. If you are satisfied with the demo, you should consider buying it, here is the link. EDIT: World of Goo is now available for purchase in Ubuntu Software Center.

Foobillard

Foobillard

FooBillard is a billiards game with a three dimensional display. It supports 8-ball, 9-ball, carambol and snooker, as well as a single player and multiplayer as well. To control the 3 dimensional view with your mouse is a lil bit annoying I would say, otherwise its a really good way to have some fun.  If you are an Ubuntu user(or any other distro using debain package management), click here to install Foobillard.

Super Tux

Super Tux

Familiar with that image? Yeah, Super Tux is a replica of our good old Super Mario game, except for the "Tux". There is an similar alternative called Secret Maryo Chronicles which you might want to take a look. If you are an Ubuntu user(or any other distro using debain package management), click here to install Super Tux.

Neverball

Neverball

Neverball game is a clone of popular Super Monkey Ball game. "Tilt the floor to roll a ball through an obstacle course before time runs out. Neverball is part puzzle game, part action game, and entirely a test of skill". If you are an Ubuntu user(or any other distro using debain package management), click here to install Neverball.

Xmoto

Xmoto

"X-Moto is a challenging 2D motocross platform game, where physics plays an all important role in the gameplay. You need to control your bike to its limits, if you want to have a chance to finish the most difficult challenges". You can download the latest Xmoto packages for Linux from here.

Frozen Bubble

Frozen Bubble

"Frozen-Bubble is a clone of the popular Puzzle Bobble game, in which you attempt to shoot bubbles into groups of the same color to cause them to pop". If you are an Ubuntu user(or any other distro using debain package management), click here to install Frozen Bubble.

Hope you liked this collection of super silly games. If you have similar games to share with us, don't hesitate. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
